Last week, AM caught the opening night for the unveiling of Tomokazu Matusyama’s (featured) exclusive snow globe (available here) created with The Standard Hotel. Continuing a long line of quality artist collaborations with artists like Ryan McGinness, KAWS, and Jose Parla, this unique project takes Matsu’s iconic Running Deep series of paintings and miniaturizes them into unique sculptures. Openings: Os Gemeos – “Miss You” @ PRISM

On Saturday night, dynamic duo Os Gemeos finally revealed their much anticipated new body of work, Miss You, at the PRISM in Los Angeles. As hoped for by their fervent fans in LA, the twins created an immersive installation throughout the architectural showspace featuring their whimsical imagery in the form of large-scale paintings, sculptural elements, and weavings. Last night, AM attended the early viewing of Brian Donnelly’s (a.k.a. KAWS) latest museum exhibition Downtime and artist talk at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. Saturday afternoon in San Francisco, Eli Ridgway Gallery opened its doors to Matthew Palladino’s latest solo show entitled Sweet Relief (previewed). Palladino brought his usual color palette and thought-provoking narrative (often using using common objects & repetition), expanding it into a three-dimensional form by creating painted relief sculptures utilizing re-purposed chocolate molds. Previews: Yayoi Kusama @ Tate Modern

AM was at Tate Modern on Tuesday to visit the major retrospective by Yayoi Kusama, whose separate show at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art we recently covered. The London exhibition is spread over fourteen rooms and features a selection of works — drawing, painting, collage, film, sculpture and installation — spanning a period of six decades.
