Saddened by the recent deaths of Carrie Fisher and her mother, Alex Garant and Spoke Art have teamed up to release a print to benefit the International Bipolar Foundation. With 100% of the profits donated to help those with the disease (including the late actress), the print release features an image of Princess Leia (with Garant’s characteristic double-exposed treatment), Fisher’s most famous role. After hosting couple of successful fundraising auctions, solidarty.org is back with another fund raising effort. On the 28th of December, they will be having a charity sale of previously unsold work along with newly donated pieces by world renowned urban and contemporary artists. The project was started in November 2015 with an idea to provide artists a platform through which they could sell their work for charity donations. Kickstarter: Konbit Shelter Project

The Konbit Shelter Project has launched a Kickstarter campaign to support their ongoing work with a community in Haiti. Created by a group of engineers, architects and artists, including Swoon (interviewed), who wanted to make an ongoing commitment to work with the local community to help with reconstruction efforts following the devastation wrought by the earthquake which struck the country in 2010, the project takes its name from the Creole term for the traditional form of cooperative labor which is common throughout Haitian agriculture and society. Ending today at 5 pm (EST) is the Artists for Humanity auction at Paddle8 to benefit the project of the same name in Boston seeking to provide underserved youth with exposure and employment in the arts. We recently got an update from solidARTy.org that they are started another round of charity art auctions on their website. The project launched back in November by auctioning artworks donated by artists, galleries and studios, with 100% of the proceeds going to AreYouSyrious.org organization. So far they have raised over €20,000 for the cause and are now continuing their efforts by offering more original and rare, editioned work by world renowned street, urban and contemporary artists. Every year, the MTV RE:DEFINE Auction raises money for the Dallas Contemporary and MTV Staying Alive Foundation (HIV awareness and prevention). Yesterday, Tristan Eaton revealed a project he has been working on getting started for the past five years – a plan to paint the Red Sands Sea Forts off the coast of the UK along with Shepard Fairey, Futura, How & Nosm, and The London Police.
