Releases: Tomokazu Matsuyama x Paper Monster – “Running Even Deep”

Our friends at Paper Monster have been working long and hard on a very special print by Tomokazu “Matsu” Matsuyama (interviewed). Entitled Running Even Deep, the print involved a 23-layer screenprinting process using oil based inks, as well as giclee, on thick deckled-edged paper. In addition, every one of the very limited edition of 50 has been uniquely spray-painted by Matsu himself. Previews: Alexandros Vasmoulakis – “I’ve got you a date with Botticelli’s neice” @ a.antonopoulou.art

Greek artist Alexandros Vasmoulakis is returning home to Athens to showcase a new exhibition at a.antonopoulou.art gallery. Known for his versatile style both inside and out, Alexandros will focus this indoor series on the common subject of artisans throughout time – nude women. Each female figure featured will have a name and a past. This show opens February 15th and will run through March 24th. Check out more after the jump.

Videos: Dan Witz – “What the %$#@? (WTF)” @ White Walls

A show that closed recently in San Francisco at White Walls, What the %$#@? (WTF) featured the acronym inspiring work of Dan Witz. The ongoing series of works consisted of his photorealistic renderings of people trapped behind grills, bars, and windows.  This new video has some nice footage of him getting his provocative work up as well as him talking a little about the philosophy behind his art. Preview: “In the Trees: Twin Peaks 20th Anniversary Art Exhibition”

Opening tonight at Clifton’s Brookdale in LA will be a tribute show for David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. The curation for this celebration of the early 90’s cult show is top notch as it includes many artists that we follow here on AM like Eric White, Stella Im Hultberg, Glenn Barr, and Tim Biskup, just to name a few. Preview: “Linear Empires” @ White Walls SF

White Walls has put together a show opening tonight in SF that feature artists whose work, across various mediums, play with ideas of symmetry, lines, and geometric design.  The show entitled Linear Empires will include artists Augustine Kofie, Geoff Campen, Diana Ruiz, Mary Iverson, Richard Pearse, Brendan Monroe and Gregory Ito.
