On Saturday afternoon, AM was invited to attend the opening for “Works & Process” at the Guggenheim Museum. The annual production of Sergei Prokofiev’s children’s classic Peter & The Wolf has become a local holiday tradition that brings together some of the brightest artistic talents to create an unforgettable production that weaves art, music and performance into one. The Date Farmers recently opened what is sure to be their largest and most memorable exhibition to date. The duo of Armando Lerma and Carlos Ramirez, hailing out of the Coachella Valley, are on the ascent in their artistic career and now join such esteemed artists as Andy Warhol, Richard Serra, Robert Rauschenberg, and Carl Andre to show at Ace Gallery. Talk about a booth at Art Basel Miami Beach that had a space full of the world’s hottest artists. Italy’s Massimo De Carlo’s booth featured scorching youngsters and established artists alike, including Nate Lowman, Dan Colen, and Kanye West favorite George Condo. Building on his solo a few months back, Compound Eyes of the World (covered), Andrew Schoultz debuted a new body of work last week at the Arkitip and Incase showspace in Los Angeles. This Saturday, December 18th, the traveling Playboy Redux II exhibition makes its stop in Los Angeles at Copro Gallery. In addition to some already exhibited work seen at earlier stops like the Warhol Museum (covered), a whole new group of artists have been asked to reinterpret the iconic bunny including Luke Chueh (seen above) who has an interesting take on the “money shot” for his long-suffering bear. As we strolled down the aisle’s of Art Basel Miami Beach, our eyes wandered towards paintings that were undeniably and unmistakeably by a certain artist. That artist is Kehinde Wiley and they were hung on the walls of Chicago’s Rhona Hoffman Gallery’s booth.
