Openings: Esao Andrews – “Solid Void” @ Jonathan Levine Gallery

On Saturday, Esao Andrews opened up his latest exhibition at Jonathan Levine Gallery with a new body of work consisting of some of his largest paintings to date. Utilizing his signature mix of creative story telling and darkly laid out characters/compositions, Mr. Andrews entertained the audience with a rich and complex show. Some paintings are hauntingly beautiful while others deceptively twisted. Regardless of your initial impression, it’s always worth it to take a second look at his works. You’ll be as surprised as us on […]

AM recently stopped by Shepard Fairey’s (featured) secret secondary studio where much of his “fine art” is actually made. Officially called “Studio Number Two”, the hidden industrial space houses the heavy lumber for his coming show “Printed Matters” at Subliminal Projects. After the sold out show at Deitch Projects, Shep decided to create a body of work based on his signature silkscreening technique. Utilizing mediums of metal, wood and hand painted multiples (HPMs), he and his talented crew took the entire summer building up the […]
