Last week, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal premiered an exhibition by Canadian artist Marcel Dzama called “For a Thousand Tricks”. From what we saw at the David Zwirner booth at Art Basel, the show looks to be a wild one. Filled with his signature illustrative style using nostalgic references contrasted by the irony of politics and eroticism, Marcel always finds very subtle ways to bash his points home. StolenSpace’s official start to 2010 has arrived in the shape of “Original Culture” featuring an Anglo-Italian line up of Ericailcane, DEM and Will Barras. London art fans turned out this Thursday night to witness the most simultaneously fun and original show we’ve witnessed since, well, probably ever! The “Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade” is in town and after a week of installation time, is now officially open for business! Faile (aka: the Patricks) and Bast transformed the ground floor into a fully functioning video game arcade, with old school cabinets – some of which we recognized from our misspent youth – being given the paste-up treatment. Last week, Ryan McGinness (featured) had an opening in Madrid’s Casa Encendida. The show “Studio Franchise” was not only the NYC artist’s classic works, but also a glimpse into his studio. Ryan replicated his studio in a giant installation to give art goers an idea of how he came to create some of his gems.
