Preview: D*Face + Obey @ Magda Danysz

This weekend, two of street art’s best, Shepard Fairey and D*Face, invade La Ville-Lumiere (that’s Paris) for a show at the lovely Galerie Magda Danysz. Looks like Mr. Obey will be showing mostly larger HPMs and album covers, giving European collectors a crack at some images from his recent, instantly sold-out San Fran show; D*Face will show some mixed media works and prints. After a quick round of mingling andÂ refreshments, the participants of Baby Tattooville were invited to the heart of the Jeff Soto factory.Â Once there, the attendees were treated to a â€œpreviewâ€ of Jeffâ€™s upcomingÂ solo show “Turning in Circles” at the Riverside Art Museum in December (previously teased). This Saturday, Aurel Schmidt opens her second solo show Maneater at Soho’s Deitch Projects. Had the opportunity to check out the “Beyond Baby Tattooville” exhibit at the Riverside Art Museum a couple weeks back. Strangely enough, opening night is on Oct 4th to coincide with the weekend of Baby Tattooville, but the work was put up for public viewing on Sept 4th. The second annual Baby Tattooville is fast approaching (October 3-5). This unique event, billed as a “limited edition retreat for artists & collectors,” has grown on us and Arrested Motion will be on hand to cover the event.
