With his first European solo opening up in Zurich later on this month, Scott Campbell will be heading to Asia for a warm-up showing on January 13th. Paved With Good Intentions at Gallery Reis in Singapore will focus on his most well-known creations – his cut currency pieces. This Saturday, January 14th, The Shooting Gallery will be presenting a new body of work from Charmaine Olivia. Preview: Nicoletta Ceccoli – “Girls Don’t Cry” @ Roq La Rue

After a showing near her home country of San Marino at the end of 2010 (covered), gifted artist and illustrator Nicoletta Ceccoli (interviewed) will be putting her works on display in a more distant land – Seattle, Washington – come next Saturday, January 14th. Girls Don’t Cry at the Roq La Rue Gallery has the painter returning for her first showing there since 2009 and will feature delicate renderings of her girls of tainted innocence. Preview: Allison Sommers – “Potter’s Field” @ Thinkspace

We’ve already told you about Esao Andrew’s solo coming up this Saturday night (January 7th) at Thinkspace, but you should also note that Allison Sommers (interviewed) will be presenting a new body of work as well entitled Potter’s Field. The showing will include seven gouache works on illustration board including her largest to date (over 3 x 4 feet) alongside 12 Souvenirs Of War that created within tiny antique German matchboxes. Preview: Hush @ 941 Geary

Just weeks after unveiling an installation at Onethirty3 (covered), the UK based Hush (interviewed)  is currently working on his next exhibition scheduled to open on Saturday, January 21st. Returning to San Francisco after a showing back in 2010 (covered), the indoor-outdoor specialist will be presenting his gritty Asian-inspired creations at 941 Geary. Videos / Preview: Esao Andrews – “Nowhere” @ Thinkspace

As we previously mentioned, Esao Andrews will be opening a show this Saturday night, January 7th, at the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City. Nowhere will include imagery familiar to his fans like creepy houses, distorted balloons, and  ghostly ships all painted with his surreal touch and moody palette. Previews: Futura 2000 – “Expansions” @ Galerie Jerome de Noirmont (Paris)

You may recall that last Spring Futura was preparing to show at Galerie Jerome de Noirmont in Paris. Unfortunately, the show got moved as the artist was busy with several projects such as Carbon and Art In the Streets at the MOCA (covered). Previews: Sylvia Ji – “Gilded Roses” @ Corey Helford

This Saturday, December 17th, Sylvia Ji (interviewed) will be transporting her fans to another time and place when she opens Gilded Roses at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. In this new body of work, her portraiture takes a new direction with the ornamentation and costumes of a bygone era taken center stage featuring “explosions of lace, feathers, silks, satins, glinting jewels” mirrored by as her choice of palette utilizing jewel tones.
