Ten months since Dismaland (covered) opened its doors to the public, the artist that inspired the whole project, Jeff Gillette, will be opening his first UK solo show on June 24 at Lawrence Alkin Gallery. Post Dismal will include 15 new paintings continuing the post-apocalyptic imagery that juxtaposes Disney images with scenes of slums, despair, and ruin. On May 12th, Castor Gallery in NYC will be opening an exhibition of paintings and charcoal drawings by Kepa Garraza. The show titled Riot is inspired by civil unrest, uprising and rebellion. On Saturday, the 30th of April, Villa Alliv in Marseille, France will open its doors for a new exhibition entitled Residence. JAW, KAN and BLO, members of the Da Mental Vaporz crew have transformed the space following a two week residency. The new body of work is a the result of collaborations between the artists, carried out in situ. Under impulse and improvisation, they bring their instinctive and distinctive methods together – street pointillism (KAN), abstraction (BLO) and image destructuring (JAW) – to create surrealist compositions.
