Last week, KAWS announced his latest project, a collaboration with Nancy Gonzalez on a handbag collection. Continuing his foray into the fashion world (also see Uniqlo & Mira Mikati), the Brooklyn-based artist lent his iconic double x’s to the Colombian designer known for her handbags of exotic leathers and brightly colored hues. Tomorrow at noon on their website, Case Studyo will be releasing a handwoven woolen rug based on one of Eddie Martinez’s paintings from 2015. Produced in an edition 12 + 4 AP, the tapestry is sized at 210 cm x 140 cm and comes with a signed and numbered certificate by the artist. In May, we shared with you the amazing takeover by JR (interviewed) at the famous Louvre in Paris where he pasted over the iconic pyramid using photographs of the surrounding structures. He now has his own line of sake to serve his customers with the recent release of a collaboration with NEXT5 Sake. Coastal.com recently released an eyewear collection that Camilla d’Errico designed with Derek Cardigan. The four frames all feature tiny slivers of some of the Vancouver-based artist’s manga-influence imagery, specifically her paintings Xiomara, Water Wheel, Neo New York, and Loveless Bird (two minimalist palettes & two with vibrant and saturated colors). On Saturday night (June 25th), Josh Keyes (interviewed) will be opening a joint show with Eva Funderburgh entitled Overgrown at Archimedes Gallery in Cannon Beach. For fans of his work, the title immediately makes sense and the first few paintings that have been revealed certainly play on this theme. Also, starting at 10 am for those present at the gallery only, Keyes will make two new prints available – Return & L’apres-midi d’un faune (Afternoon of a Faun) – more details here. Since we first reported (in 2014) on Gary Baseman (interviewed) and his work with Coach, the American luxury fashion company has certainly further expanded their collaboration with the Los Angeles-based artist. One of the more recent spinoffs are a set of 10 unique hand-painted jackets & totes that have become available. Along with peeks at the new 8 meter tall sculpture from KAWS to be unveiled soon in Thailand, fans of the Brooklyn-based artist are also excited to see a new product line release. The project at Central Embassy in Bangkok, produced with the help of curator AllRightsReserved, will feature a new character called BFF that looks to be a mix between Elmo and the Cookie Monster with the artist’s distinctive double X’s for eyes. Adam Neate (interviewed) recently released a new limited edition from his ongoing Dimensional Editions. Published by Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, Imploding Head was produced in a very limited edition of only 18 pieces. This silkscreen release, the British artist’s first, is based on his recent painting Simulation Theory Anxiety No.1 which was featured in the exhibition Dimensionalist Painter held at the gallery in October 2015 (covered).
