Openings: “Sink or Swim” Benefit Show @ Spoke Art

Last Friday evening, Spoke Art Gallery hosted the opening of Sink or Swim (previewed), a benefit for the Japan-based grass roots organization PangeaSeed, whose goal is to raise international awareness on the plight of sharks. The show included literature, photos, artwork and members of PangeaSeed creating a dialogue as to why we must preserve and protect sharks and their habitat. Before the show even opened, over 100 fans lined up (some as early as 9 in the morning) down the block in order to buy the […]

Benefits: Back For the Future – Nike Air MAG x Michael J. Fox for Parkinson’s Research

It’s been long said that art & design give us an alternative look on life. In rare cases, life comes full circle to manifest that unique viewpoint… In 1989, Universal asked Nike to create a concept shoe that would be used in the year 2015 for the sequel of the Back To The Future franchise. The scene became one of the most memorable product placements ever in movie history. We still remember Marty McFly stepping into his Air Mags and the neon Nike font light up then […]

Releases / Teasers: Josh Keyes – “Scorch I” @ Sink or Swim Benefit Show (San Francisco)

After almost three years of tireless wishful thinking and outspoken groveling amongst diehard Josh Keyes collectors, Scorch I will finally see a print release this coming weekend. Originally exhibited at SCOPE NY in 2009, the painting, along with another now iconic work, really turned heads at the fair and marked a fairly sizable conceptual and technical leap forward, converting casual observers into permanent admirers of Josh’s work. Adding to the lore of it all, the paintings were released on a first-come, first-serve basis by David B […]

If you remember, we previously reported on the limited edition and intricate Lady Butterfly sculpture (produced by Tomenosuke Sho-ten) from Aiko Nakagawa earlier this year. If you are too late to purchase this piece, don’t despair. This is only the second colorway in a planned five colorways so you still have […]

Openings: LUDO – “Metamorphosis” @ High Roller Society

Opening his first solo exhibition in London over the weekend, LUDO (interviewed) yet again showed his artistic dexterity in multiple mediums at High Roller Society. Much like his Zurich solo back in April, Metamorphosis (previewed) offered an strong selection of large graphite and oil drawings, focusing on his signature weaponized insects. Preferring to work on paper, these large scale works illustrate the French artist’s deft drawing abilities and provide reference to the massive paper wheatpastes he utilizes for his street work. The focal point of the […]

Kai & Sunny have just released a new screen-print entitled Ghost Flower as featured as a large format image at their recent London exhibition at StolenSpace, The Flower Show. The large format edition sold out at the exhibition, but now this smaller and more manageable edition can be purchased at Kai & Sunny’s website. Or, you may want to try your luck on our giveaway. […]

Releases: Patrick Martinez – “Word Play” Limited Edition Neon Sign

We have featured Patrick Martinez and his neon signage before here on AM, especially the coverage of his solo show Hustlemania at Known Gallery back in March. This particular aspect of his work typically is influenced by hip hop phraseology leading a transformation of this common advertising motif into something completely different. Fans will now be able to add one of these signs affordably to their collection as Patrick is releasing a unique limited edition. WORD PLAY will come in a run of 20, sized at […]
