Preview / Setup: Interesni Kazki – “Nothing Special” @ Mid-City Arts

AM stopped by Mid-City Arts yesterday to visit with Ukranian duo, Interesni Kazki, as they prepared a new body of work for their show opening on Saturday night, November 19th. Like their recent exhibition in Milan (covered), Nothing Special will feature an indoor translation of of their surreal outdoor murals as well as some other surprises. Preview / Setup: Paul Insect – “Triptease Revue” @ Post No Bills

Setup: Park Life Pop-Up Store @ Paulson Bot Press

San Francisco gallery/store, Park Life has teamed up with print shop Paulson Bot Press for a temporary pop-up store filled with artwork and merchandise at their West Berkeley warehouse space. Park Life has curated the gallery space with new and past editions and originals from artists such as Tauba Auerbach, Andrew Schoultz, Tucker Nichols, Clare Rojas, Barry McGee, Chris Johanson and more. Setup: Revok, Rime, and Roid – “Perseverance” @ Known Gallery

This coming weekend, the duo known as Dabs Myla will present their latest solo exhibit over at Culver City’s Thinkspace Gallery. Titled The Best of Times, the show promises to deliver on their best work up to date which mainly focuses on their recent time spent across the great state of California. After a showing just last month in Los Angeles, COPE2 takes his famous throwup’s internationally as he prepares for an opening in Denmark tomorrow, August 6th. The new body of work entitled World’s Famous Bubble focuses on his iconic bubble lettering and looks to be produced on site at Halvandet in Copenhagen. Charming Baker is back in London with a new pop-up exhibition that previews this evening at Mercer Street Studios (16 Mercer Street), an attractive space in Covent Garden. AM had a nose around the venue during the final preparations to check out Baker’s recent canvases, prints, as well as sculptures — a medium we haven’t associated with him before. Set-up / Teasers: Retna – ‘The Hallelujah World Tour’ (London) @ The Dairy

Retna has been keeping himself busy recently — among other things, by participating in the Art in the Streets exhibition at MOCA, Street Cred at the Pasadena Museum of California Art, and painting the tail of a business jet in Geneva for VistaJet. James Marshall (aka Dalek) @ Birmingham Visual Arts Gallery (UAB)

After ten straight days of painting, albeit with the help of some university art students, Dalek (interviewed) has completed a massive four panel, site-specific installation within the Birmingham Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Alabama. With minimalism more reminiscent of his Psych Optic Black Light Fuzz (Part 1 & Part 2) exhibitions over the winter than some of his more traditional work, the street artist turn gallery veteran utilized simple geometric forms and subtle shades of blue to strong effect.
