Teaser: Nate Frizzell – “I Should Know Who I Am By Now” @ LeBasse Projects

You might have noticed this original from Nate Frizzell (featured) last week when we posted our Beyond Eden Overview. You can take a closer look at this painting (which has a homage to Banksy) after the jump, but what we wanted to let you know was that this piece is a teaser for his upcoming show “I Should Know Who I Am By Now” at LeBasse Projects in early November. It will be his second solo show at the Culver City Gallery after his debut […]

Teaser: REDU HOMEROOM @ Reed Space (NY)

It appears REDU will be continuing the hot streak of standout art events in the name of educational reform with REDU HOMEROOM. Aiming to “rethink public education by putting creativity and innovation back in the classrooms”, the pervasive non-profit will be teaming up OHWOW and Staple Design, as well as an extensive cast of corporate supporters including Bing, The New York Times, CAA Foundation and many more, to bring Manhattan’s Lower East Side a unique two-week artistic and fundraising event with 100% of the proceeds […]

Teaser: Faile – “Bedtime Stories” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery

Next month, after making their debut in a earlier group show with Perry Rubenstein, FAILE will be presenting their solo show “Bedtime Stories” at the New York gallery. Needless to say, this is a significant show for the Patricks and the movement in general so we will be keeping an eye on this. We’ll have more to follow soon, but for now, check out the new prayer wheel they installed in Brooklyn after the jump…

Teaser: Thinkspace Five Year Anniversary Show

It’s not often you see three girls from Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) in one painting, but it’s a special occasion. Thinkspace will be hosting their Five Year Anniversary show on November 6th, celebrating with a full roster of artists that we have come to love.  Alot has happened in the time they have been existence, including a recent move to Culver City.  We’ll have a full preview soon, but for now, check out the list of artists after the jump…

Beyond Eden ’10: Overview

For those of you who missed it, we have a photo summary of this year’s Beyond Eden Art Fair. We’ve highlighted certain aspects of the event already, but this will give you an overview of the type of art that was seen this year (like the Dabs Myla piece seen above). Over three thousand people attended the second annual fair that is the only one of it’s kind highlighting the so-called New Contemporary art movement, and hopefully next year, it will continue to grow and […]

Teaser: TrustoCorp – “New Americana” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

This Saturday night, October 23rd, street art conglomerate Trustocorp makes a debut appearance in Los Angeles at Gallery 1988. Get ready for a healthy dose of political satire highlighting the absurdity of modern American Culture entitled “New Americana” at the Melrose gallery. Although known mostly for the remixed street signs, if the last show in NY was any indication, the exhibition will be much more immersive than that. Perhaps this new series of works targeting the education system (example above) will be included in this […]

Teaser: “Street/Studio 2.0” @ Irvine Contemporary

For street artists, location has always been as important, if not more so, than the artwork itself. The site informs the conception – and perception – of the work down to it’s very core. On November 6th, Irvine Contemporary will explore this unique relationship with a group of artists that have been bringing the street into the studio for years. With such street art legends as José Parlá, Shepard Fairey, SWOON, James Marshall (Dalek), David Ellis, Romon Yang (Rostarr) and Gaia, Street/Studio 2.0 will spotlight […]

Teaser: Greg “Craola” Simkins – “Story Teller” @ Gallery 1988

With a successful NYC show over the summer (covered), Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) will keep the ball rolling by returning to his home turf in LA for a solo at Gallery 1988. On November 5th, Story Teller will highlight a new body of street inspired, pop surrealist work with the gallery responsible for bringing Craola out of the obscurity of graffiti circles and into the warm embraces of the contemporary art world. The fairy tale narrative within Greg’s work, however unlike the stories remembered from […]

Teaser: Invader – “Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities” @ Wunderkammern (Italy)

French street art phenom Invader has trained his sights on his next target, quietly mobilizing a army of alien assassins poised to attack neighboring Italy with his first solo in over a year. Opening October 23rd at Wunderkammern, Roma 2010 & Other Curiosities will in part continue the artist’s self-ascribed “RubikCubism”, an inventive re-purposing of the definitive hand-held puzzle toy that first manifested itself during his tribute to classic album cover art in NYC (covered) and saw further rearrangements with last years UK solo (covered). […]

Previews: Craww ‘Droodlings’ @ Electrick Sheep, Newcastle

South Yorkshire artist Craww picks up his tools and treks to Newcastle for his debut solo show “Droodlings” at Electrick Sheep Gallery on October 14th. The exhibition promises a mixture of acrylic works on paper, canvas, found materials and collage, as well as a selection of limited edition prints. Craww caught AM’s eye earlier this year with his delicate figurative works, which contain a healthy mix of dark and dreamy surrealism in their narrative.  If you like your art to tell a story, with a […]
