Releases: Luke Chueh – “Black in White (And Red All Over) Figure

Today Munky King will be releasing a new variant of Luke Chueh’s (interviewed) “Black in White” figure (first seen at Comic-Con). This version will be limited to 250 pieces and is hand painted to be extra bloody (hence the “Red All Over”). Along with the figure, there will be original paintings and an exclusive print release as well. The signing will from 4-7 pm with a release party running from 7-10pm, but get there early if you want one of these babies, as the line will be long. […]

When we first confirmed the imminent release of KAWS’ Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket figures back in June, we didn’t have any details yet as to the price or date of release. If you remember, these were first seen at the fantastic retrospective the Dos Sequis drinking artist put on at the Aldrich Contemporary in Connecticut. We’ve heard rumors of a wooden Companion figure from KAWS for a while now but haven’t seen any images… until now – from the recent Dos Sequis video! In these studio shots, the figure appears to be approximately 10 inches tall, but no word yet on general release details. We guess that KAWS fanatics, who have already been waiting for the Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket figures to drop, will be adding this to their want list although this is sure to be limited and expensive. SDCC ’10: Travis Louie – “Uncle Six-Eyes” Bust

So, it looks like that full “Uncle Six-Eyes” figure (covered here) that was in the works from Travis Louie (interviewed) has been converted to a bust. The prototype from Big Shot Toyworks can be seen at this year’s SDCC but that’s not the only thing Travis has in store for his fans. Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) has almost completed his latest vinyl project with Munky King. The incredible six-inch figure is based on his painting “Screaming for the Sunrise” from his “Hello & Goodbye” solo at LeBasse Projects last year. From what Yoskay told us, the reason it took over a year to design this figure is due to the intricate detailing that was demanded of the figure (i.e. the flames & snout). When AM visited David Choe’s (featured) secret lair several months ago, we not only got an advance peek at his recently released monograph, but we also got a first look at his Whale “Munko”.
