Preview: Nate Frizzell – “Every New Beginning Starts with Another Beginnings End” @ bo.lee Gallery

Nate Frizzell (featured) will be opening his first solo show in the UK next week (March 26th) at the bo.lee Gallery in Bath. The new body of work entitled “Every New Beginning Starts with Another Beginnings End” will feature oil paintings from Nate for the first time. Video: Shaquille O’Neal – “Size Does Matter” @ Flag Art Foundation

If you recall, we brought you some photos from the opening of “Size Does Matter” show curated by Shaquille O’Neal at the Flag Art Foundation. Now comes the video from PBS where Shaq was interviewed and talks about his three favorite pieces (Ron Mueck’s “Big Man”, Willard Wigan’s “Micro Shaq”, and some mini-elevators) among other things.  He also coined another nickname for himself – “Shaqasso.” Via Curated.

Streets: D*Face x Oscars

UK street artist D*Face (featured) recently stopped by Los Angeles to install some well-timed “Zombie Oscar Statues” last week. The two seven foot sculptures were installed in two locations – atop Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood near where the 82nd annual Academy Awards (Oscars) were being held at the Kodak Theatre. Our friend, Jeremy Kaplan (GM of Subliminal Projects) was along for the ride as D*Face worked his version Hollywood magic. Preview: Aaron Nagel – “Marks” @ Shooting Gallery

Aaron Nagel opens his debut solo show in SF at The Shooting Gallery this Saturday, March 6th. The exhibition is entitled “Marks”, as in a target, a sign or indication of a quality or feeling, or a small area on a surface having a different color from its surroundings, typically one caused by accident or damage. Video: JR – “Women Are Heroes” (Paris)

Street photographer extraordinaire JR recently released a video chronicling one of his great projects, the Paris portion of his traveling show “Women Are Heroes” held during the Nuit Blanche festival (covered). In it, you can see varied response from the French people and media as well as some fabulous timelapse footage of the French artist and his crew relentlessly pasting up the banks of the Seine river.
