Videos: Craola – “The Pearl Thief” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

As you can imagine, we are pretty excited about Greg Simkins’ (interviewed) show tomorrow; especially after getting a glimpse at the body of work during our studio visit. The show opening at Gallery1988 (LA) entitled “The Pearl Thief” is about a monster who travels the globe stealing people’s imaginations – “pearls,” if you will. To get an even better idea about the show check out the video above and after the jump… Also, according to Jensen, “the art show will also be an interactive experience, […]

Video/Openings: Know Hope and Aakash Nihalani @ the Blk River Festival

Know Hope (interviewed) and Aakash Nihalani recently took part in Vienna’s Blk River Festival. The event, which is composed of three parts – outdoor projects, an art show, and film festival – is the city’s first festival dedicated to street art. Know Hope sent us this fantastic time lapse of a collaboration piece with Aakash alongside the waters of the Danube (known as the Black River because it originates in the Black Forest and empties into the Black Sea). After you’ve checked it out, take […]

Video: Gestalten TV – Swoon Interview

Remember when we brought you pictures from the opening of Swoon’s (interviewed) show with Ben Wolf at Urban Art Info?  Apparently, the good people at Gestalten TV were able to catch up with the street artist and sit down for a video interview at that time.  Some of the topics discuss include her graffiti beginnings, the Swimming Cities, and an exciting new abandoned church project. Via Wooster Collective. Discuss Swoon here.

Video: Agents of Change Ghostvillage Project

Here’s a trailer for an interesting little project in Scotland curated by Agents of Change. Six artists, Remi/Rough, Stormie, System, Timid, Derm and Juice 126, were given free reign of an abandoned village on the west coast of Scotland. We can’t begin to imagine what they did with an entire village as their canvas. More to follow…

Video: “Destino” – Salvador Dali x Disney Collaboration

This is the first time we have seen the fabled “Destino” short film collaboration in full between Disney and Salvador Dali. Originally started in 1946, the project was benched because of financial reasons or whispers of the content being too extreme – who really knows what happened? Finally in 2003 (57 years later), a team of Disney animators finished what Dali started and the film made its way around some film festivals. It may have been released to the general public eventually, but we may […]

Video: Above – “Flying in the Wind”

ABOVE (interviewed) has put up another creative street piece, this time in Paris. We love how he mixed in some of his older work (the arrows) with his newer stuff.  Also, nice touch with continuing to add 3-dimensional elements to his stencils.  You can see more of his videos here. Discuss ABOVE here.

Video: D*Face Mural Timelapse (Meat Packing District NYC)

After returning from his New York, D*Face (interviewed) sent us a timelapse video of some murals he put up in the Meat Packing District (covered). Discuss D*Face here.

We are definitely looking forward to more projects like this from Hong as well as other artists we like.  Check out other successful music collaborations we have covered in the past here. Discuss Seonna Hong here.

Video / Preview: Damien Hirst – “The Blue Paintings” @ The Wallace Collection

Telegraph recently sat down with Damien Hirst for an interview about his show “The Blue Paintings” (teased) at The Wallace Collection opening tomorrow.  Featuring 25 paintings (all hand done by Hirst), he appears to be opening a new chapter in his career.  With style reminiscent of his idol Francis Bacon, the works still include classic Hirst imagery like the shark jaws, butterflies, dots, and skulls.  It remains to be seen whether he will be as successful with this artistic change of direction.  Check out the […]
