Video: Vhils – “Scratching The Surface”

AM has been very impressed by Vhils’ first UK solo show “Scratching The Surface“, which recently opened at Lazarides Rathbone Place. A video has just been released which documents the artist’s process of installation in the gallery. Shepard Fairey Works a Plea in Boston

After a five month ordeal with Boston authorities, Shepard Fairey’s latest drama has finally come to an end. Shepard, who was arrested on January 22 at the ICA (reported), was initially charged with over 30 counts of vandalism, tagging and destruction of property. Between April and June, the courts threw out over 21 of the charges against Shepard. This past Friday, Fairey consented to a plea deal that will dismiss the remaining 11 vandalism charges. Releases: James Jean’s “Kindling” Book – San Diego Comic-Con

A limited number of advance copies of James Jean’s (interviewed) book featuring work from his NYC solo show will be released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Published by Chronicle Books, “Kindling” presents 12 of James’ visual mix of abstract and illustrative works from the show, along with his detailed preliminary sketch for the work on the reverse side, printed in a removable large poster format. Streets/Video: Know Hope

After his amazing debut Los Angeles solo show, Israeli street artist Know Hope made his way over to the Big Apple and worked a pretty sick street mural at the Hotel Chelsea that was commissioned by No Longer Empty. Openings: David Ellis – “Constant Flow” @ New Image Art

AM had the chance to swing through New Image Art on the opening night of “Constant Flow” – the new solo show from Barnstormers member David Ellis. The show comes down this weekend, so we apologize for the lag in posting, it’s just been a busy month that’s been packed with shows, but Ellis killed it and the show is most definitely worth checking out if you have the chance.
