Delving further into Corey Helford Gallery’s booth at the SCOPE Art Fair, we now focus on some work from Bristol artist Nick Walker (interviewed). Definitely making his presence felt as he showcased a diverse mix of new paintings, he included a new addition to the TMA (The Morning After) series with the city of Miami along with his signature character making a stop at the Eiffel Tower. Thought the “Vandal” would take a holiday break after hitting Hong Kong, but we guessed wrong… More after the jump.
During Scope art fair we got a chance to catch up with Toronto’s Cooper Cole Gallery. Hosting a solid array of names familiar to readers of AM, the gallery presented great pieces from artists such as Cleon Peterson, Jesse Harris, Maya Hayuk, Ryan Wallace and Steve Powers. We were particularly taken with the always colorful and imaginative pieces by Jen Stark. Who has always had the viewer in mind when she creates her interactive works of art.

Our Art Focus on this Christmas weekend is on the London-based Greg Eason. His portfolio of meticulous pencil drawings is certainly a joy to browse through, featuring a predilection for animal life, skulls, and eggs which he uses to “comment upon mortality, spirituality, life, nature and the history of mankind.” Besides the intricacies evident in his graphite work, Eason also shows a comfort with working with negative space. The dynamic duo known as Dabs Myla have been hitting the mural scene as of late. Not too long ago, we saw them put up some great work during Art Basel Week Miami. Two gifted graffiti artists and MSK brothers, REVOK and ROID recently collaborated on this piece in East London. If you recall, they recently opened a show together in Los Angeles (covered), as well as joined forces (along with RIME) for another piece in Detroit. Coming off an incredible mural unveiled during Miami’s 2011 Art Basel week (coverage), MSK/AWR and 7th Letter graffiti writer Risky is back to conquer yet another large scale mural. This time however he’s working in his backyard of Los Angeles where he is currently painting a wall measuring 120 feet wide and about 60 feet tall. Set up by L.A. AM was fortunate to visit French graffiti artist TILT in his studio in Toulouse as he prepared for multiple shows in London at POW, Singapore and Manila, and to follow him across the streets. When not painting graffiti on naked “bubble girls” across the world, the self declared “graffiti fetichist” leverages his fun and colourful bubble letters to represent iconic portraits, shoes and flags.
