Teaser: Luke Chueh – “Inferno” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

How very appropriate it is for Luke Chueh (interviewed) to base his next show on Dante’s “Inferno” and the 9 rings of hell in the famous Italian poet’s masterpiece.  With much of his career body of work dealing with the physical and mental torture (albeit often comical) of his poor animals, it was not much of a jump to imagine them all in a personal hell that Luke has created for them. Luke sent us a picture of three of his large paintings for the […]

Studio Visits: Buff Monster

AM recently visited the studio of Buff Monster as he prepares for his solo show at Corey Helford Gallery opening next month. Buff will be unleashing 20 new works for his new solo show and we’re lucky enough to be able to debut a few of them, along with some great process shots from his studio that show off his time consuming and meticulous process. Much of his work begins as an Illustrator file on his computer before being printed out on paper which he […]

Openings: Dalek & Delta Exhibition @ Elms Lester

Last night, Elms Lester held a special private viewing as two top notch international artists visited the London gallery to show off their unique and contrasting geometric styles. The Dutch artist known as Delta (Boris Tellegen) showed off a diverse arsenal of new works (including sculptures, paintings and 3-D installation pieces) which depicted the complex layers and symmetry that we’ve come to expect from the graffiti artist. Dalek (James Marshall – interviewed) balanced out the show with this renowned “superflat” geometric colors and meticulous line-work. […]

Thinkspace Gallery’s current group show, “ModArt – A Celebration of 20 Issues and All That Lay Ahead,”  (previewed) curated by the team at European based ModArt Magazine opened to an excited Los Angeles crowd, but things really popped off when Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Soleil Moon Frye (who played Punky Brewster) dropped by the gallery to check out the work, specifically the front window installation by German street artist NOMAD. Besides scoping out NOMAD’s humorous caveman-like drawings and installation pieces, the trio and the rest of […]
