Fame Fest ’10: Slinkachu

Probably one of the last artists (see other artists here) to stop by Grottaglie before the Fame Festival opening next weekend is street miniature photographer Slinkachu. The London-based artist worked his magic with his street installations in the Italian town that would probably go unnoticed if you didn’t know where to look. Fortunately, he documents and photographs his clever works for all to enjoy. More pics after the jump…

Releases: Slinkachu – “The High Life”

The last time we saw Slinkachu, he was busy in a Grottaglie alleyway creating his largest work yet for the FAME Festival (covered).Â Well, looks like the photographer/street artist is back with a new release which he also created in Italy, this time the installation “was placed near the local fly-tipping area and dog pound – the high life indeed!”Â This latest print is available in either small or large formats, through Studiocromie and Andipa Gallery respectively. When we heard Slinkachu (street photographer and sculptor we first covered here) was included in this year’s lineup for FAME Festival, we were wondering how he would fit in with all the big murals that other artists were putting up all over the city. Apparently, he decided to go “big” as well in the form of the largest piece he has ever one. Looks like he put up this “laundry line” piece in one of the many alleyways of Grottaglie. Closer looks after the jump.

On June 9th, a massive group show will open at Antler Gallery in Portland entitled LAX/PDX. With this year’s POW! WOW! Long Beach fast approaching, the installation of the associated group show is already underway at the Long Beach Museum of Art with murals being prepped by a large roster of artists. Vitality & Verve: In the Third Dimension is presented by the museum in collaboration with Thinkspace & POW! WOW! LB and will feature originals, installations, and murals (just like last year). POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Streets: In Progress

Starting this week, artists have been hard at work painting murals for this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii. Beautifying the streets of Kaka’ako in Oahu with their imagery, the participants get to enjoy the tropical weather and throngs of fans as they leave their mark at the annual event. POW! WOW! Hawaii ’16 / Showing: “Exploring The New Contemporary Movement” @ Honolulu Museum of Art School

Over the weekend, POW! WOW! Hawaii kicked off the festivities with a show curated by Thinkspace at the Honolulu Museum of Art School entitled Exploring The New Contemporary Movement, something they have done for the last two years before this (see 2015 & 2014). As in the past, artists were asked to contribute works that conform to a certain format, leading to a visually congruent and display of artworks.
