Teaser: Kelsey Brookes @ Lazarides

After our last update on Kelsey Brookes (featured), it looks like he’s continuing to grow and expand his next body of work.  These paintings are destined for his a London show with Lazarides this coming November along with some new prints and sculptural pieces. Openings: Geoff McFetridge – “US AS A LOGO” @ V1 Gallery

Last week in Copenhagen, LA-based Geoff McFetridge opened his show US AS A LOGO at the V1 Gallery. The multidisciplinary artist, who seems to have no creative boundaries, has worked with poetry, animation, graphic design, creating title sequences for movies like Virgin Suicides, Adaptation and Where The Wild Things Are as well as the skateboard ramps seen in the Art in the Streets exhibition. Over this past weekend, the POVevolving Gallery hosted Marco Zamora’s new artwork which continues to explore the artist’s fascination with the urban landscape. Streets: Blu (Germany)

After his team effort with compatriot Ericailcane in Fabriano, Italy, the fast moving Blu has moved on to and completed the new mural we told you about in Germany. Wouldn’t we all like to chop off the Medusa head of rising gasoline prices? This wall was painted in Cologne as part of the Cityleaks Urban Art Festival which also includes involvement from Alexandros Vasmoulakis, Claudio Ethos, Faith47, Escif, Herbert Baglione, Roa, Sam3, Lucy McLauchlan and Will Barras among others. Openings: Ryan McGinness – “SponsorshipREDUX” @ Subliminal Projects

Last Saturday, Ryan McGinness hit up the final leg of his exhibition schedule in LA with a show at Subliminal Projects. SponsorshipREDUX is a remix of his 2003 show, where corporate logos were sized on the gallery walls according to their level of sponsorship for the exhibition.  This time around, the logos (including ours), were deconstructed and the parts used as compositional ingredients in a series of four paintings and two print editions. Live Painting: Anthony Lister @ ProjectRoom (Berlin)

Aussie street artist Anthony Lister (interviewed) recently hit up Berlin’s ProjectRoom (Jaybo’s showspace).  You may remember other events held there like the collaboration between Remi/Rough – Jaybo – Juice 126 or the Herakut live painting. Banksy – “Gas Mask Boy” @ Sotheby’s

What appears to be a previously unseen piece from Banksy by the general public has surfaced for an auction at Sotheby’s London at the end of the month. The piece created in 2010 and entitled Gas Mask Boy was probably acquired directly from the artist with appoximate overall dimensions of 27″ x 39″.
