Showing: Andre x Futura – “Chez Nous” @ Danysz Gallery (Paris)

André & Futura have joined forces for a unique collaborative show at Danysz Gallery in Paris with their signature pictorial characters. Aptly entitled Chez Nous, the exhibition presents a series of unseen works where they answer each other and merge their energetic painterly gestures. Futura’s otherworldly characters, such as the Pointman, echo Saraiva’s whimsical Mr A. dancing figures, as if their pictorial alter egos were enjoying themselves as much as both artists did in this adventure. Streets: Peanuts Global Artist Collective (New York)

As mentioned in our introduction to the Peanuts Global Artist Collective earlier this month, murals featuring the work of some of the participating artists were unveiled in New York. Painted on the side of downtown office buildings on the West Side near Hudson Square, imagery inspired by Charles M. Schulz’s famous comic strip could be seen by passerby’s from Mr. A (seen above), AVAF, FriendsWithYou, Kenny Scharf, Tomokazu Matsuyama, and Rob Pruitt. Upcoming: Peanuts Global Artist Collective

Lovers of Snoopy and the Gang should rejoice with the impending launch of the Peanuts Global Artist Collective on April 16th. Starting in New York with the unveiling of public art murals in Hudson Square and then moving on to a special installation at the Snoopy Museum in Tokyo, artists Mr. A, Nina Chanel Abney, AVAF, FriendsWithYou, Kenny Scharf, Tomokazu Matsuyama (seen above), and Rob Pruitt will be remixing classic Peanuts imagery with their own artistic vision. Previews: “Artistes à la une” (Front Page Artists) @ Le Palais de Tokyo

Streets: Os Gemeos x JR x Andre Saraiva (New York)

In town for their Parallel Connection project (covered), Brazilian twins Os Gemeos used this opportunity to create a couple of sneaky street works with their friends. They teamed up with French part-time locals, JR and Andre Saraiva, and painted some lovely pieces on the streets of SoHo in New York. Mixing their different styles and signature elements, artists were able to created a lovely collaboration. Showing: André @ Museum of Design and Fashion (Lisbon)

Paris-based street artist André Saraiva opened a showing at the Museum of Design and Fashion (MUDE) in Lisbon last month. Featuring one of the most recognizable characters in the street art world, an exuberant stick-figure alter ego, Mr. A, as well as many other aspects of his career spanning graffiti, painting, street art, installation, sculpture and film, the exhibition is a retrospective (open through Sept. 28) that brings the artist of Portuguese origin back to his roots.Take a look at the diverse collection of works below… Photo credit: Stick2Target.

Basel Week Miami ’13 / Upcoming: colette x Alchemist “Art Drive-Thru”

If you are in town for Art Basel Week in Miami next week, you may want to stop by the pop-op shop created by French boutique store colette.
