Armory Week ’10: Pulse New York

Everyone knows the story of “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” where a picky little girl chooses between different bowls of hot cereal etc. to find the one that suits her. Well, sometimes we feel kinda like Goldilocks at art fairs, where some feel too big and others too small. However, more often than not, during the weeks of Art Basel and Armory, Pulse is the one that fits just right, and this year was no exception. As far as size goes, Pulse got it right […]

Preview: Morgan Lehman Gallery @ Pulse NY 2010

Of course, during Armory Week, there are plenty of other fairs in addition to the main Armory show. One of AM’s perennial favorites is Pulse, which is dedicated to showing only contemporary artists, and thus always feels fresh and new. One booth we’re looking forward to seeing at Pulse this year is Morgan Lehman, who will be showing exciting young artists including Paul Wackers, Eric Beltz, Andrew Schoultz and Ryan Wallace. See preview images, after the jump.

Teaser: Andrew Schoultz – “Crisis” @ Jerome Zodo Contemporary (Milan)

Another show we are looking forward to in March is Andrew Schoultz’s solo in Italy at the Jerome Zodo Contemporary.  Entitled “Crisis,” the exhibition opens on March 11th and will include this amazing large scale (11′ x 24′) piece “Monument Yard. (Monument to Turbulent Times)” which was about one and a half years in the making. It was originally on view at the Torrance Art Museum for an exhibition titled “Zoom” and will now make it’s way to Milan. Take a closer look at some […]

Park Life in SF will be presenting a truly collaborative show on Friday night between artists Andrew Schoultz (seen above – right), Chris Ballantyne, and Mark Mulroney. The artists will be working on murals as well as present some collaborative paintings for the show. Check out a couple more setup pics from the other artists after the jump…

Preview: Andrew Schoultz – “White Noise and Silence” @ Roberts & Tilton

AM headed over to Roberts & Tilton in Culver City today to check out the installation in progress of San Francisco based Andrew Schoultz’s new work. The show will run until August 1st with an opening reception Saturday, June 13, from 6-8 pm. The work is an impressive extension of his figurative yet abstract fantasy land full of fire, rain and horses. Andrew uses his fantasy world to comment on contemporary events and the theme of this show is “blind trust and national public complacency.” Andrew […]

Andrew Schoultz & AJ Fosik @ Space 1026

Andrew Schoultz and AJ Fosik opened up a pretty amazing show full of complex installations last weekend at Space 1026 in Philadelphia. We have never really envisioned their work interacting but the kinetic energy of Schoultz’s frenzied imagery blends nicely with the sculpts of Fosik’s beasts and folklore – perhaps it’s the complementary color palettes. Not to mention, the cryptic letterings of Fosik combines with Schoultz’s penchant for incorporating the symbolism of U.S. currency to form a body of work that hints of conspiracies and […]

Openings: Family First @ White Walls

The first great group show of 2009 went down last weekend at White Walls SF. Usually group shows are headlined by a few established artists and a bunch of lesser knowns, but “Family First” (previewed) featured a large and diverse group of great artists like Ian Francis, Andrew Schoultz, Richard Colman, Sylvia Ji, Shepard Fairey, Shawn Barber, Jim Houser, Mike Giant, Adam Flores, and AJ Fosik just to name a few… Be sure you stop by for a look if you haven’t already…you don’t see […]
