New York-based Japanese artist Tat Ito makes his NYC solo debut with a show at the Joshua Liner Gallery entitled Memento Mori, the opening reception for which takes place 6-9pm this Thursday. The Latin phrase (literally “remember you will die”) often is used in reference to artwork representing death or the impermanent nature of life. Currently on exhibit at L & M Arts’ New York space is one of the most quintessential collections of Andy Warhol ever assembled together under one roof, namely a complete set of twelve Colored Campbell’s Soup Cans. Gathered from various private collections and institutions, the exhibition marks the first time the iconic series, a uniquely color complex spin off of Warhol’s original Tomato Soup design, has ever been shown together in it’s entirety. It looks like our friends at Incase are continuing their great artist collaborations with their newest project – a series of products featuring the king of pop art – Andy Warhol. You may remember their recent work with Jose Parla (covered). Well, this newest offering is no less impressive. In conjunction with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the collection features Warhol’s artwork applied to select cases, sleeves and bags for iPhone, iPad and MacBook. Last Fall, AM caught an excellent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. The show entitled Andy Warhol: The Last Decade was an epic collection culled from the last 10 years of the famed artist’s illustrious career. The survey included almost 50 large scale works that demonstrated the newer styles which Andy Warhol incorporated into his already diverse repertoire in the latter part of his life.
