AM stopped by briefly at New Image Art out on Santa Monica Blvd amidst a busy art weekend to check out the Anthony Lister (interviewed) show.  Lister was in town last week to open his new LA solo show, “And Then The Wind Changed” featuring medium and large paintings as well as some installations. The Sea No Evil Charity Art Show is again in full swing. This year’s show is bigger than ever with a large group of artist donating their works to benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Openings: “Beach Blanket Bingo” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

AM recently attended the festive opening of Jonathan LeVine Gallery’s summer group show, entitled Beach Blanket Bingo. Chilling and chatting by the inflatable palm oases with a cold Pabst Blue Ribbon was a fun way to appreciate works by the over thirty participating artists, including Matt Haber, Seonna Hong, Elbow Toe, Richard Colman and Ron English. Openings: “Whammy! The Art Show” @ VASF

Artist friendly clothing company RVCA recently opened their “Whammy! “show (teased) at their retail space/gallery VASF in San Francisco.  Focusing entirely on domestic talent, “Whammy!” features the artwork of such stateside luminaries as Jeff Soto (interviewed), Dave Kinsey, Anthony Lister (interviewed), Kelsey Brookes and Tiffany Bozic, to name a few.  More photos after the jump.

Previews: Anthony Lister – “No Win Sitch” in Sydney

Anthony Lister (interviewed) sent us an image of a recent piece he did in Sydney, which is also where he will be having his newest show “No Win Sitch” at a yet undisclosed location.  The show will be one night only on July 17th (6-9pm) and will be independently funded by Lister.  Check a video teaser on the project after the jump…

Teaser: Whammy! The Art Show @ VASF

Whammy! The Art Show opens next Thursday, July 9th with some pretty good artists in the lineup.  How does Dave Kinsey (above), Anthony Lister (interviewed), Tiffany Bozic, Jeff Soto, John Dwyer, Robert Hardgrave, Mel Kadel, Jay Howell, and Kelsey Brookes sound?  The exhibition will be held at VASF, the RVCA retail flagship on Haight and Ashbuy in San Francisco.
