A couple Saturdays ago, the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City hosted the opening for Wild at Heart, a benefit show where some of the proceeds went towards Born Free USA. The group exhibition featured artists and their choice of endangered species to paint or work with leading to some great pieces being created. An impressive group of artists got together over the weekend at the behest of Martin Wittfooth’s (interviewed). Preview: “Dark Water” @ Copro Gallery

When you give an artist of Martin Wittfooth’s (interviewed) caliber carte blanche to curate a show, what else can you expect but a stellar lineup of painters and contributed work that aheres to a high standard. Dark Water opens this Saturday, November 12th at the Copro Gallery in Santa Monica with participants encouraged to thematically base their pieces on the title of the show. AM recently stopped by Arcadia Fine Arts in New York to admire Aron Wiesenfeld’s newest exhibition. The showstopper was definitely the huge 70″ x 95″ The Wedding Party oil on canvas painting. The dark train tunnel was stunningly contrasted against the expanse of snow with its almost ghostly procession and must be seen in person to fully appreciate.  The large piece was accompanied by other oil paintings as well as charcoal works which were mostly insightful portraits that exuded a soft and intimate look at characters that […]

Preview: Aron Wiesenfeld – “New Drawings and Paintings” @ Arcadia Fine Arts

On May 14th (4-6pm), New York will be treated to a new show from Aron Wiesenfeld including both oil and graphite works. The San Diego-based artist’s second solo at Arcadia Fine Arts will feature emotive renderings of his young characters traversing desolate landscapes (snow and water seem to appear a lot in this set of works) all infused with his superior storytelling and mastery of light.  If you are in the Big Apple this weekend, we highly recommend adding this to your plans.
