Luke Chueh (interviewed) has recently started a Kickstarter with Munky King to create one minute shorts of some of his most iconic paintings. With the expertise of Tiny Giants, the Los Angeles-based artist’s world will expand as stories can be told centered around how his characters ended up in the situations they did (see an example below of his Target painting). On June 15th & 16th, Askew One visited Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in a project organized by Galartis auction house and the MyFinBec creative platform. During those two days, the New Zealand-based artist painted a 3 x 2 meter mural on 84 wood wine cases at the showroom for the street art auction that took place June 22. The eighth edition of the Essential 1800 Artist Series features the artwork of Enoc Perez. This annual series was started by 1800 Tequila as a way to showcase art in a non-traditional medium and has featured the artwork of such luminaries as Basquiat and Haring. Sporting a cool grey color reminiscent of his iconic vinyl figures, the KAWS x Air Jordan 4 is set for release later this month. Featuring graphic detailing from the Brooklyn-based artist and his famous double x’s on the heel tab as well as a glow in the dark outsole. Recently on her webstore, Jen Stark released a small clothing line featuring here “drippy” imagery. For those interested, there are now a men’s t-shirt, women’s crop top, and leggings all featuring the psychedelic drip patterns often seen in her work with a price set at $45, $40, and $55 respectively. Following up on the first phase of his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration with Good Smile in 2014 (covered), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing some of the villains from the cartoon series, films, and comic books. The Japanese manufacturer of hobby products is teaming up with Nickelodeon and Jean to design new collectible versions of Shredder, Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang. This Saturday (February 25th, 5-9pm), Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be releasing the OxyContin 20Mg variant of The Prisoner figure based on one of his paintings. The pink version features one of the Los Angeles-based artist’s signature sad bears sitting entrapped in a pill bottle (just like his Vicodin edition). For those who missed the original blue colorway of KAWS’ BFF plush (covered) in Thailand, there was another chance with the recent slate of black versions that were released in conjunction with his exhibition in Texas (covered).
