Currently showing in Morocco at the David Bloch Gallery is their summer group show, apparently part 3 of their Hall of Fame series. Of interest, among a group of international artists, is the inclusion of some artists we follow like Dave Kinsey, Augustine Kofie, and Remed. The show runs through August, so stop by if you happen to be in Marrakech. Otherwise, take a look at some pics Kinsey sent us after the jump…

Streets: Basel Week Miami ’10 Overview (Part III)

Here is a third and final look at the street art from Art Basel Week Miami (see part I and Part II, and Wynwood Walls) as we wind down our coverage the art highlight event of the year. We will definitely be back again next year as each successive fair seems to get bigger and better. Other than an upcoming feature on the graffiti and perhaps one or two individual focuses, this will be your final fix on the outdoor work. More photos after the [...]

Openings: “Dreams Deferred” @ The Chinese American Museum

Last week, the Chinese American Museum (CAM) in Los Angeles opened their doors to an art show focused on immigration reform. Although the bulk of the problems the Chinese in America have had with this topic has been in the past, it is always important to bring light to some forgotten history as there is much we can learn that we can apply to the controversial topic in the present. Dreams Deferred (teased) featured many compelling pieces from some artists that you will be sure [...]

Many of the canvases as well as triangular sculptures you saw in our studio visit earlier this month were transported to the gallery, but also Kofie added a beautiful installation of his workspace so that attendees could see where his creative process plays out. Take a look at some opening pics after the jump where his [...]

Studio Visit / Preview: Augustine Kofie – ‘Retrofitted and Other Forms of Vintage Futurism’ @ White Walls

Last month, graffiti writer, illustrator, designer and fine artist Kofie’One / Augustine Kofie kindly granted AM access to his studio spaces in the Filipinotown district of Los Angeles. Kofie was preparing for “Retrofitted and Other Forms of Vintage Futurism”, his debut solo exhibition at White Walls Gallery in San Francisco which opens on Saturday, October 9th. Those familiar with Kofie’s work will immediately recognize his new canvases. They’ve retained the style which has become his trademark: an architectural feel, an emphasis on precision and balance, [...]
