Upcoming: “Potatostamp – 15 Years of Prints by Jeff Soto” @ Volcom Gardens

This Saturday, May 27th, Jeff Soto (interviewed) will be opening a retrospective of his screenprinted gig posters and fine art prints from the last 15 years. Hosted at Volcom Gardens in Austin thru June 18th, the exhibition will be Soto’s first in Texas and will be include over 60 pieces, spanning from 2002 to 2017.  Many will be available for purchase, along with show and fine art editions of the Grim Reaper, his newest print. Previews: David Lyle – “Formative Years” @ Bale Creek Allen Gallery

On September 2nd, David Lyle will be presenting a new body of work at Bale Creek Allen in Austin, Texas. Formative Years will focus thematically on the childhood years and will continue his series of works inspired by found vintage and vernacular photographs, remixed with his satire and unique artistic vision. Rendered using only black paint and turpentine, Lye’s special technique involves painting and removing paint with a cloth at the same time. Discuss David Lyle here.

POW! WOW! / SXSW ’16: Recap

Earlier this month, the POW! WOW! crew spent a second year (see 2015) at SXSW painting murals for festival goers to enjoy. The roster this year included artists like Esao Andrews, Fafi, Jasper Wong, Jeffrey Gress, Kamea Hadar and Madsteez as well as local muralists like Dave Lowell, Eleanor “Niz” Herasimchuk, Jason Eatherly (seen above), Scott Tarbox, and Wade “Fish” Thompson, See some of what they painted below… Photo credit: Jasper Wong.                  

POW! WOW! / SXSW ’15: Recap

Constantly expanding their brand of street art inspired fun based in Hawaii, POW! WOW!’s latest adventure takes them to a satellite event at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. Upcoming: MondoCon 2014

On September 20 & 21 in Austin, coinciding with the first weekend of Fantastic Fest, the first ever MondoCon will be opening their doors. The event will bring together artists, designers, toy creators, filmmakers, and composers to celebrate film, music, and art with panels, screenings, print releases, art shows, exclusive toy releases, live screen printing, and more. Streets: Andrew Schoultz @ SXSW

After attending this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii and completing a large collaborative mural for the event, Andrew Schoultz headed to Austin, Texas for his next project. Juxtapoz & Converse have teamed up to bring the Los Angeles-based artist to SXSW where he painted another big wall, this time with a sweet tank embellishment.
