In a fitting nod to UK graf artist, Tox, who earlier in the month was charged with criminal damages for his ubiquitous tags across London and beyond, Banksy has issued a tribute in the form of his most recent street piece. What appears to be a previously unseen piece from Banksy by the general public has surfaced for an auction at Sotheby’s London at the end of the month. The piece created in 2010 and entitled Gas Mask Boy was probably acquired directly from the artist with appoximate overall dimensions of 27″ x 39″. Black Rat Projects in London recently hosted shooting@earth, a three-day event running from 5 to 7 May which launched @earth, the new photo-essay by Peter Kennard, assisted by Tarek Salhany. The exhibition also showcased a collection of works that packed a punch by former armour designer, War Boutique. As anticipated, it appears Banksy headed back to MOCA over the weekend to refresh his Art in the Streets installation (covered). Perhaps most impressive is the hazmat suite clad golf pair with their golf cart taking the place of the asphalt roller, which has been moved outside and sacrificed Yogi bear into a pancaked, bloody mess. Releases: Banksy – “Petrol Bomb” Poster

As with his last release through POW, Banksy will once again generously use his clout by donating the proceeds from the sale of a new poster to a good cause. Instead of going towards the bail set on imprisoned members of Russian subversive street art collective Voina, the money will go to the Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft, in an effort to help in the wake of the Bristol Tesco riots over the weekend. Although it was surprising Los Angeles did not get gifted any new Banksy pieces in the weeks leading up to the opening of the MOCA Art in the Streets exhibition, it looks like the anonymous street artist has produced a new piece in his native land. This stencil, which has not been confirmed on Mr. B’s website yet, appeared in central London over the Easter holiday and is in the same area where his famous One Nation Under CCTV used to be. Steal From Work (the guys that put on the 12 Days of Christmas and Not a Penny More group shows in Bristol) put on their first show in two years on Bristol’s busy Park Street.
