Streets: World Roundup (Sept 2018)

It’s been a long while since our last Streets World Roundup but we felt like sharing so here’s a look at some recent street art. Headlining things is this clever series of handpainted sequential billboard takeovers from Mobstr (interviewed). Not sure where these pieces are located, but presumably in the UK somewhere. Wherever they are, the text-based work is a prime example of his wittiness, talent for placement, and minimalistic aesthetic. Other public art that caught our eyes last month include pieces from JR (Germany), AlfAlfA (Spain), Andrew […]

Previews: Bezt (Etam Cru) – “Beautiful Mistakes” @ Spoke Art NYC / Thinkspace gallery

Polish artist Bezt, better known as part of the Etam Cru together with Sainer, is about to open his inaugural solo exhibition in New York City at Spoke Art, curated by Los Angeles-based gallery, Thinkspace. Opening on October 21st, Beautiful Mistakes will include a series of new paintings and drawings, mostly focused on portraying mundane characters and scenes with a subtle, surreal twist to them. The work of Etam Cru has always had a notable melancholic tone to it, and Bezt is pushing this idea further with his […]

Streets: Bezt (Poland)

After many international projects and murals, Bezt from Etam Cru recently got a chance to paint a mural in his homeland. The result is this peaceful yet intriguing piece titled Blue Monday in Bielsko Biała, in the south of Poland. Choosing a very limited color palette, mostly consisting of different shades of blues and purples, the Polish artist painted this four story tall image of a woman carrying a lush flower pot for the “oBBraz miasta # 4” project organized by the Bielska Gallery Foundation and Bielsko BWA Gallery. […]

Streets: World Roundup (June 2017)

It’s been a long time since our last Streets World Roundup so we won’t be able to catch you up with all the murals we have been enjoying the last year or so. We can however share what caught our eye in June though. Up top we have a mural from Eduardo Kobra in Carrara, Italy with a very unique placement. Painted in the famous Carrara quarry where Michelangelo and so many other renowned Italian artists sought marble for their works, the new 12 x 20 meter […]

Streets: Bezt (Etam Cru) x Natalia Rak // RAD Napa Project

Bezt from Etam Cru and Natalia Rak recently combined forces to kick off the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace) by creating a new mural entitled Knocking On Heaven’s Door. The Polish artists soldiered through moments of pouring rain in California’s Napa Valley over the course of 12 days to paint their first collaborative wall together. The ongoing multi-year program will see more artists joining in to beautify 1.7 miles of the rail and bike corridor which will become the first art district in the Napa Valley. Streets: Bezt // Etam Cru – “The Sleeping Knight” (Las Vegas)

Last week in Las Vegas, Bezt from Etam Cru painted a lovely new mural entitled The Sleeping Knight for the Life Is Beautiful Festival. Curated by JUSTKIDS, artists from all over the world came to leave their mark on Sin City including one half of the Polish street art duo. Painting a boy asleep in church juxtaposed by the stain glass image of a knight in armor slaying a dragon, one can almost imagine the dream he must be having. Discuss Etam Cru here. Rewind: June 4 – Sept 19

It’s been a while since our last Rewind feature, so here are some videos from the art world that may help you catch up a little. First up are some short animations that Joan Cornella created that perfectly bring his witty comic-strip paintings to life in all their NSFW glory. If interested, you can check out the Spanish artist’s YouTube page here to stay up to date on his latest videos. Other videos to watch include: A look at a recent mural from ABOVE. POW! WOW! Long Beach […]

Streets: Bezt // Etam Cru – “Europe” (Germany)

Recently in Mannheim, Germany, Bezt from the Etam Cru painted a eye-catching new mural for the Stadt.Wand.Kunst open urban art gallery project. The somber multi-story high piece is simply entitled Europe and features a glimpse at a funeral procession. We can think of several ways this new wall can be interpreted, but whatever your own thoughts about it, we can all agree the Polish street artist got his message across in a striking and beautiful way. Discuss Etam Cru here.

Streets: World Roundup (Feb 21 – July 10)

It’s been quite some time since our last Streets World Roundup feature so now’s as good a time as ever to review some of the street art around the world that you may have missed in the last few months. Leading things off is a mural entitled Trumpty Dumpty that Ron English (featured) recently painted with the help of the Bushwick Collective, Mana Urban Arts, and Jonathan LeVine Gallery that make his political views clear. Other notable work come from Shok-1 (UK), Mobstr (UK), El Mac (Morocco), […]

Streets: Etam Cru (LA)

After a successful sold out Los Angeles debut show with Thinkspace Gallery (covered), Sainer & Bezt aka Etam Cru rounded up their visit to the Southland with another signature, bigger than life mural. Produced by Thinkspace Gallery and Branded Arts, the new piece from the Polish duo is entitled Mr. Rooster and is located on the corner of 8th and Wall in the downtown Flower District. For this project, the two street artists beautified a large six story facade with a striking image of a boy with a big rooster on his […]
