La Tour 13 (Paris)

Over looking the Seine, La Tour Paris 13‎ is a project curated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh from Galerie Itinerrance. During a year, the entire building was painted by 100 international street and graffiti artists, each leaving their mark with murals and installations within the 36 apartments over 9 floors and cellars. Opening to the public for a month from October 1st, the building is due to be demolished in November, making it the largest temporary street art exhibition in France. Showing: Crimes of Minds 2013 (Brest)

During 3 years the Crimes of Minds project invited local and international artists to create 21 murals across the city of Brest (France), transforming the city into an urban art museum (see previous coverage here).  To celebrate the end of the project and launch of a book documenting the process, a retrospective exhibition has been organized within 22 000 sq meters former warehouse, a perfect opportunity for artists to display artworks but also perform some  live painting. Openings: Bom.K – “Vertiges et Somnolence” (Paris)

French graffiti artist Bom.k has launched his first ever solo show, Vertiges et Somnolence (Dizziness & Drowsiness), at Galerie Itinerrance in Paris, showcasing a series of large scale canvases, drawings, and sculptures. With a unique way to paint with spray cans, distorting caps for an ultimate precision of the lines, the founder of the Da Mental Vaporz crew invites the viewer into his world of disturbing hybrid creatures and urban landscapes. The result is breathtaking.

This week’s look at public art around the world is headlined by this new piece (source) from Case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) in Frankfurt, Germany.
