Openings: “Space//Squared” @ White Walls Gallery

Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). This time around, participating artists were again asked to contribute artwork in a 10 x 10″ format.  Along with pieces from over 100 artists (list seen below), Adam Friedman and Robert Minervini also created a site-specific installation featuring a series of paintings interspersed throughout mural elements. Openings: “Buddy System Invitational” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Earlier this month, the Buddy System Invitational (curated by Sven Davis) opened at the Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. The group exhibition centered on the interesting concept having each of the 22 invited artists bring along a fellow artist to exhibit alongside them with each contributing one 16 x 20″ & one 8 x 8″ artwork. Videos: Bill McRight Artist Profile

Following directly on from our studio visit with John Bocksel leading up to Curio‘s Sea Of Blasphemy group exhibition opening on 26th January, filmmaker Jarcob Arden McClure just finished this video profile of artist Bill McRight, who is also participating in the grouping along with Ben Venom, and Bonnie Brenda Scott. The video gives an interesting behind the scenes look into McRight’s studio as well as a history of how he came to concentrate his practice of making shanks and improvised weapons.
