Our friends from Nuart Festival recently received another fantastic recognition – the 2nd edition of Nuart Aberdeen festival (covered) organized in collaboration with Aberdeen Inspired, was captured in the Obair Ealain (Street Art) documentary by BBC ALBA. POW! WOW! Long Beach finished up the public art for 2018 at the end of last month with another series of great murals and installations for fans of art in the Southern California city. Tomorrow (June 30th), Vitality and Verve III will open to the public (private gala tonight) at the Long Beach Museum of Art, presented in curatorial collaboration with Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Projects and the support of POW! WOW! Long Beach. The third iteration of the group exhibition highlighting artists from the “New Contemporary Art Movement” features an excellent roster including Sergio Garcia and Saber who collaborated on a cool installation featuring Garcia’s sculpture of Saber’s hand in mid spray with the graffiti artist providing his tag. Nuart Aberdeen officially started on the 12th of April with a media reception held in front of large, sun basked mural-to-be by Ernest Zacharevic. After successful inaugural event in 2017 (covered), Nuart Aberdeen just announced that their second edition that will run from April 12th to April 15th. The official opening of the Urban Nation Museum this weekend in Berlin turned the entire area into an open-air art gallery with an extensive program that included performances, workshops, show acts and more. For this event, the organizers managed to shut a section of the bustling Bülowstrasse and turn it into an art venue called Art Mile. Festival Iminente (previewed) opened recently and will bring two days of art and music to London’s Brick Lane. The festival serves as both a celebration of Portuguese and pan-European culture and a warning of what may be lost as a result of the UK’s exit from the European Union. Vhil‘s cast concrete sculpture is based upon a sketch which he drew on a previous trip to the capital. Festival Iminente will be bringing a taste of Portuguese culture to East London at the end of the month. The event is being curated by Vhils and the Underdogs Gallery which he established in 2013. The festival debuted in Lisbon’s Oeiras district last autumn and this latest iteration carries a particularly contemporary theme with the subtitle Art Before Brexit.
