Streets: Surface Project (Copenhagen)

The 5th show on Søren Solkær‘s Surface world tour opened on June 12th at Øksnehallen in central Copenhagen. The exhibition itself features 122 portraits of some of world’s most famous street artists, who were all featured in his recent book Surface (covered). To celebrate this big event, the Danish photographer invited six international and esteemed artists to create large-scale murals in the streets of Copenhagen. We recently visited the studio of prolific Spanish artist Gonzalo Borondo ahead of his upcoming solo exhibition entitled Animal.  Curated by Rom Levy, founder of RexRomae, and Charlotte Dutoit of Justkids, the show will be set up at the Londonewcastle Project Space in Shoreditch. A review of recent public works for our Streets World Roundup sees this new mural (seen above) from Shok-1 as one of the standouts. Entitled  The Consumer, the new piece makes a clever modification in the Pac-Man imagery that we are used to and again highlights the sublime translucent x-ray spraycan technique from the London-based artist.
