Opening last week, Camille Rose Garcia’s Animus Chrysalis Mortis takes viewers to vibrant and lush gardens while exploring many of life’s tropes including creation and death. There is no subtlety with the LA-based artist’s journey, as seen through the lens of an acid trip seemingly lit by black lights. Charismatic Megafauna opened at Roq La Rue earlier this month to a packed house. Celebrating the vast diversity of the animal kingdom, the exhibition features a wide variety of creatures, some recognizable, while others are not from this world. On Saturday night, attendees of this year’s Baby Tattooville at Riverside’s Mission Inn witnessed something that they will not soon forget for a very long time. Baby Tattooville ’15: Art Jam

Every year at Baby Tattooville, one of the most intriguing and fun events is the continuously ongoing “Art Jam.” For 2015, participating artists Anthony Ausgang, Sas Christian, Olivia De Berardinis, Ron English, Camille Rose Garcia, Bosko Hrnjak, Marion Peck, KRK Ryden, Mark Ryden, and Isabel Samaras decided to go with a black, white, and gray palette to create a surreal collaborative masterpiece. Always one of the things attendees look forward to, Baby Tattooville’s Secret Store opened last night at 9pm sharp. Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “Mirror, Black Mirror” Book & Giveaway

Now and through midnight Sunday, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be randomly giving away five original drawings (seen above) with the purchase of her book Mirror, Black Mirror from her webstore. The 175 page monograph documents seven years of work made by the artist after moving to a cabin in the woods of Northern California and costs $70.
