This Friday, March 5th the Carmichael Gallery is visiting the big apple for a collaboration project with Ogilvy & Mather and Jun Lee for a special Armory Week presentation of art’s emerging contemporary street artists. In a show called Re-Creation II, they’ll host a collection of international artists such as: Will Barras, Simon Birch, Boxi, Ethos, Mark Jenkins, Labrona (interviewed), Aakash Nihalani, Nina Pandolfo and WK Interact. German street artist case is set to open his show “The L.A. case” at the Carmichael Gallery this Thursday night. As one of the founding members of the Ma’Claim crew (which also included Akut of Herakut), renowned for their photorealistic graffiti, expect to see some of the most detailed and complex spraypainted pieces you have ever seen from case with this debut U.S. solo show. Guy Denning’s lastest body of work “Celebrity Will East Itself,” currently showing at the Carmichael Gallery, goes beyond the glitz and glam of Hollywood and explores theÂ darker side ofÂ stardom. Working with oils, Denning presents a series of dark and powerful pieces compounded of raw emotion that exposes the uncertainty and insecurities of his ambiguous celebrity subjects. Carmichael Gallery is showcasing some ladies with a unique view on things in their latest show. “A Mirror Distorted” features Andrea Michaelsson (one half of Btoy), Cherri Wood, Pam Glew, and the dazzling details of our favorite South African transplant Candice Tripp (interviewed). AM enjoyed the intense visual experience of EINE’s Los Angeles debut solo show “The A – Z of Change” (previewed) which opened at Carmichael Gallery this past Thursday. The buffet of vibrant colored squares strewn across the walls served as the perfect backdrop for his amazing canvas pieces and the powerful imagery contained therein.
