A group show that we previewed here a while back, “Represent,” opened a couple weeks ago at Blackall Studios in London. Curated by Matt Small (interviewed), the show featured artists such as Swoon (interviewed), and ELBOW-TOE (interviewed) among others – all who have developed their own approach to portraiture. London is being spoiled with great shows lately. One of the next events for art fans to look forward to is Represent, a group show with a focus on the art of portraiture. Teaser: case – “The L.A. case” @ Carmichael Gallery

German street artist case is set to open his show “The L.A. case” at the Carmichael Gallery this Thursday night. As one of the founding members of the Ma’Claim crew (which also included Akut of Herakut), renowned for their photorealistic graffiti, expect to see some of the most detailed and complex spraypainted pieces you have ever seen from case with this debut U.S. solo show. On a weekend packed full of great shows, the Carmichael Gallery opening reception was one of AM’s first stops. Fresh off moderating the successful Bonham’s Contemporary Street panel, up next for Carmichael was the “Pour Me Some Smoke” group show which offered a wide variety of contemporary flavors. Next Thursday, Carmichael Gallery will open up a great group show featuring the works of Case, Charming Baker, Ian Strawn, Guy Denning, and TRXTR. The opening reception is Nov 6th from 8pm to Midnight. As previously reported: Charming will also be participating in the Bonhams Contemporary: Urban art discussion panel hosted by Seth Carmichael which includes AM friend Shepard Fairey!
