Showing: Edoardo Tresoldi – “Etherea” @ Coachella Festival

Over the weekend, the first set of visitors to the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival were treated to a majestic new installation from Edoardo Tresoldi. Entitled Etherea, the site specific piece for the event’s Arts Section is a continuation of the Italian artist’s work with wire sculptures, although this one is certainly his biggest artwork to date. The three transparent sculptures are inspired by Neoclassical and Baroque architecture, measuring 36, 54, and 72 feet in height. Discuss Edoardo Tresoldi here.

Today, Cesar Chavez Day, the Date Farmers are officially announcing the start of an annual Coachella Walls event. Organized in honor of the labor leader and civil rights activist as well as the anonymous farm worker, the local artistic duo hope to bring attention to the poor community with this mural project. Despite the name of the Coachella music festival set to open soon, the tax revenue goes to the city of Indio with the actual city of Coachella remaining a forgotten area.
