There really is too much to talk about here, […]

Streets: World Roundup (March 19 – March 25)

Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. This wall, which was painted to look as if it was never there is one of many that the young artists in the area have painted over (story via Hyperallergic). Other street work that caught out eyes this week include Vhils (Luxembourg), […]

Openings: Conor Harrington – “Dead Meat” @ Lazarides (Rathbone Place)

Last week in spectacular fashion, the new exhibition from Conor Harrington (interviewed) opened at Lazarides Gallery’s flagship Rathbone Place location in London. The sold out show, Dead Meat, included the impressive works we previewed during our studio visit with the UK-based painter last month, a total of 8 large-scale canvases and 24 small studies or “Morning Glories” as he has fondly titled them. The works reflected a further refinement of his signature mix of historical narrative and modern urban references, all in the setting of […]

For those who couldn’t make the trip for Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) exhibition Dead Meat opening tonight at London’s Lazarides (Rathbone Place), AM brings you an insider’s look into the artist’s compound as he was preparing for the show earlier last month. For this body of work, fans will see a conscious focus on the part of Mr. Harrington on his painterly talents. Also, as seen in these photos, Conor is a creature of minute details. His space is covered with photographic and still life references which are […]

Update: Conor Harrington – “Dead Meat” @ Lazarides

As we mentioned about a month ago, Conor Harrington (interviewed) is set to open his solo show Dead Meat at Lazarides (Rathbone Place) on March 2nd. Taking his imagery in a new direction, the UK-based artist focuses in on a behind-the-scenes look at men of power in the 18th century when Europe’s might was at its peak. As usual, his techniques walk a fine line between graffiti and fine art, but he has taken the added step of staging elaborate photoshoots for reference in this […]

Since that time, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the video that was to be created by Andrew Telling documenting this trip. Finally completed and titled Black Herds of the Rain, this awesome short film gives us a rare glimpse into the talented artist’s creativity and approach in the the streets. We also find out that the journey and subsequent […]

We’ll have more details for you later, but for a hint, take a look at this quick piece he threw up that is an image from that upcoming exhibition as well as part of a film project he is involved with.
