Buy low, sell high… guess Steve Lazarides sees the recent economic downturnÂ as an opportunity to make some moves. The marquee urban art gallery from London has been busy in 2009. Last month Laz transformed their Greek street location into a shop with a more accessible price point and stocked it with plenty of quality artwork underÂ Â£5,000. An enthused crowd was on hand at Kinsey/DesForges for the opening of â€œChasing Castlesâ€ (previewed), the first showing of a full-body of work in the United States by London based artists Conor Harrington and Chloe Early (interviewed). With their “Chasing Castles” dual-exhibition (previewed) opening at Kinsey/DesForges in a few hours, Conor Harrington and Chloe Early (interviewed) are taking in the Los Angeles sunshine while working on one last surprise for their fans this side of the pond. AM caught up with Harrington as he was putting up a massive mural on the second story wall outside the gallery while Early provided artistic input and support. London based artists Conor Harrington and Chloe Early have a joint exhibition opening tomorrow, Saturday April 18th, at the influential Kinsey/DesForges gallery in Culver City. Both have shown work individually in group shows in the United States before, but â€œChasing Castlesâ€ marks the first showing of a full body of work stateside for both artists. Another great group show is underway at Lazarides (Newcastle Location). Who says the art market is having a down year? Not Lazaridesâ€¦ We’ve got a sneak peek of the UK urban juggernaut’s 2009 lineup and it seems to be bringing the gusto. Conor Harrington @ The New Art Gallery Walsall

Conor Harrington recently posted up images of the monstrous 16 x 85 feet wall he painted for the “Outsiders” show at The New Art Gallery Walsall. This work, whichÂ took Conor only nine days to finish, includes images ofÂ soldiers, a bull, a duke, a bishop and a Blood and is aptly entitled “The Masters of the Universe.”Â We don’t think it’s removable so we hope this is never painted over.
