Earlier this week, Chinese contemporary artist Liu Bolin continued his Hiding In New York series (previous location) on Greenwich Street at the the Tiles For America site dedicated to 9/11. We recently went by Muriel Guepin Gallery to check out French-born, Brooklyn-based artist Supakitch’s (featured) first major NYC exhibition, entitled Based on a True Story, which is up through the end of July. For the show, Supa presented mostly new paintings on canvas and works on handmade paper that featured his characteristic bold colors, fine line-work and music-inspired compositions. Entitled Intersection, the premise of the show was a meeting of cultures – American by Caldwell and Brazilian by Darby with his favela installation. Last week, AM attended the group exhibition curated by KAWS and Erik Parker, a unique project hosted by Paul Kasmin Gallery. The show Pretty on the Inside (teased) included works from seven American artists – Todd James, Tony Matelli, Joyce Pensato, Peter Saul, Karl Wirsum and of course, the two curators. Last night in Riverside, the Socal art scene made a rare migration into the IE for the annual Sea No Evil show and benefit. Proceeds of the auction go to Captain Paul Watson and his Sea Shepard Conservation Society, of Whale Wars fame, with many of the artists we follow participating including Jeff Soto with this year’s featured image seen above. Preview: Takashi Murakami @ Gagosian (London)

Opening Monday, June 27th at the Gagosian in London will be a new body of work from Takashi Murakami. It’s been a while since the founder of the Superflat movement has shown in the UK, and it looks like he will be revisiting his overtly sexual sculptural works ala Miss Ko and My Lonesome Cowboy with this new piece seen above entitled 3-Meter Girl.
