Australian-based artist Rod Luff’s exhibition, The Moleskin Project (previewed) opened last Thursday, which also signified the first show put on at Spoke Art in San Francisco. As the title of the exhibition suggests, the show is comprised of framed and unframed pages taken from Rod’s moleskin that contained an array of oil paintings, studies, thoughts and sketches that he produced in his spare time over the course of a year. Currently showing alongside Souther Salazar (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery is Japanese phenom Haroshi. The show Future Primitive impressed us from the moment AM laid eyes on his incredible works. At first glance, his sculptural pieces seem like everyday objects like a hydrant, a forty of beer, or a moose head. On May 14th (4-6pm), New York will be treated to a new show from Aron Wiesenfeld including both oil and graphite works. A couple weekends ago, Marc Jancou Contemporary opened an impressive three person exhibition, entitled Blankness Is Not A Void, of big-time contemporary art players, Raymond Pettibon, Scott Campbell, and the late Steven Parrino. Campbell’s contributions to the show (covered), further developing his signature cut currency full sheets, was nothing short of spectacular. One stop for Ryan McGinness while he is in Los Angeles for a slew of exhibitions and related events will be Subliminal Projects on June 11th. He’s creating a new body of work based on corporate logos and sponsorship entitled Sponsorship Redux. There will be four paintings and two print editions based on McGinness deconstructing the corporate sponsors’ logos and integrating them into his pieces. There will be an interesting pairing of artists tomorrow night at the Shows & Tell Gallery in Toronto with a new exhibition entitled Double Rainbow Rainbow opening. Jen Stark, who is known for her intricately beautiful paper cuttings will be showing alongside NYC-based Maya Hayuk. Anish Kapoor – “Leviathan” @ Grand Palais (Paris)

Anish Kapoor, who recently returned to India to open his first solo exhibition there, has now traveled to Paris, the site of his first ever exhibition 30 years ago, to unveil Leviathan. The 35 meter tall work made from PVC is 13,500 square meters when inflated, forming a cathedral-like space inside (which viewers can enter) creating the illusion of being inside a giant whale.
