Mörel Books, publisher of the highly acclaimed and gorgeous Moonmilk book by Ryan McGinley, is coming out with a book by fellow photographer, artist, and skateboard legend Ed Templeton. Templeton, a Huntington Beach, CA native and resident, works in multiple mediums while exploring his surroundings, personal relationships, and the outskirts of suburban life. Carmichael Gallery’s move to Culver City is the big news this weekend. With the debut North American solo show from Brazilian artist Nina Pandolfo “Life’s Flavor” serving as their debut exhibition, this proves to be a not to be missed event. If you have been following artist Aurel Schmidt’s work, you may notice that she prefers to draw litter, debris, or ephemera that you could find in any trash bin or on the ground within a few steps of any busy city street. If you recall, we brought you some photos from the opening of “Size Does Matter” show curated by Shaquille O’Neal at the Flag Art Foundation. Now comes the video from PBS where Shaq was interviewed and talks about his three favorite pieces (Ron Mueck’s “Big Man”, Willard Wigan’s “Micro Shaq”, and some mini-elevators) among other things.
