Over the course of a few weeks, Tauba Auerbach was able to complete stunning mural in San Francisco with the help of a two man crew. Situated in the Tenderloin and arranged with the help of Luggage Store Gallery, the wall sees the locally-based artist step out of her comfort zone (like with NY Fireboat project) to create something special, what she calls her largest painting ever. With this year’s Moniker Art Fair in the UK opening soon, it’s time to look at some of the art soon to be on display. First up is a mini solo show from Josh Keyes (interviewed) showing with Thinkspace Gallery featuring his acrylic and panel pieces that deal the effects of humanity on our environment. Over the weekend, Schauwerk Sindelfingen in Sindelfingen opened the first retrospective exhibition in over 15 years in Germany from American artist Tom Sachs. A master of the DIY aesthetic, the New York-based artist is known for using his unique bricolage technique to remake motifs influenced by everyday culture, the consumer world, and history with common materials and found objects. Releases: KAWS – “GONE” Figures

Later today (Sept 24th), 12 noon Eastern Time to be exact, KAWS will be releasing his latest vinyl collectible on his website. Modeled after a monumental new bronze sculpture recently revealed at his museum show at the National Gallery of Victoria, GONE will be offered in three different color ways. The sculpt first created for his show last year in New York (covered) features the Brooklyn-based artist’s famous Companion figure holding one of his BFF characters in a way that harkens back to Michelangelo’s Pietà. On view through December 7th at the in USF Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa Bay, The Return Of The Real features the eye bending work of Robert Lazzarini (and Rodrigo Valenzuela).
