Openings: Chris Stain @ Carmichael Gallery

AM checked out Baltimore street artist Chris Stain’s solo exhibition, “Up On The Roof Countin’ Pigeons,” (previewed) at the Carmichael Gallery. Stain absolutely knocked one out of the park with his transformation of the front gallery space into a New York City rooftop scene, which featured an amazing gargantuan-sized mural on one of the gallery’s walls. One of the exhibitions we have been looking forward to this month is Mark Dean Veca’s “Paintings, Wall Drawings, and Collaborations” (teased) at the University Art Gallery at UC San Diego opening tomorrow, Jan 29th, 6 – 8:30 pm. Contest: Sam Flores Painting Giveaway

To celebrate Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary, Sam Flores has decided to give away a large painting (6 x 4 feet) to one lucky fan. The medium is acrylic and spray paint on wood framed canvas. The Manifest Hope: DC exhibition, showcasing the spirit of the grass-root artist movement, officially opened it’s doors Saturday morning, but Friday night, select VIPs and friends were invited to preview the pop-up gallery.Â The packed house reflected the energy that is currently flowing into the nation’s capital for Inauguration. AM brings you a preview from the ever busy set up at the “pop-up” Manifest Hope gallery at the Nation’s capital.Â Tomorrow is almost here, and the gallery is set to open at 10 am for all the people who are in town to see the inauguration.Â Manifest Hope will be opened during MLK weekend and but will be closed on Tuesday to observe the Presidential inauguration.
