Openings: “Space//Squared” @ White Walls Gallery

Last month, White Walls Gallery in San Francisco opened a group exhibition entitled Space//Squared. Curated by Sven Davis, the showing was a followup to an event last year in Portland (covered). Streets: World Roundup (July 29 – Aug 4)

It’s time for another Streets Roundup again as we look at walls around the world. Leading things off is an epic collaboration in Los Angeles arranged by Branded Arts at the Gabba Gallery between Dabs Myla, Rime, Persue, Nychos, and Askew (photo by Birdman). Openings: “Wider than a postcard” & olive47 – “bonita bonita” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Breeze Block Gallery opened their huge group show Wider than a postcard (previewed) alongside the first solo show in their new gallery 2 space – olive47’s bonita bonita (featured) a couple of weeks back to a packed Portland crowd. Over 400 individual works went into the postcard show with 200 artists providing postcard sized works. Our friends at team VNA are at it again! Now onto issue 22 and hot off the presses featuring Vhils (filmed) on the cover, along with some favourites of ours between the sheets such as AJ Fosik, Blaine Fontana, Cranio, Husk Mit Navn and Moneyless as VNA continues to spread it’s wings further afield than the graffiti and street art base it started out with. Rewind: Dec 24 – Dec 30

This week’s Rewind summary article of videos features a wide range of subjects. Leading things off is some behind-the-scenes footage of body artist Emma Hack’s depiction of a car crash with the help of painted human bodies  (via Juxtapoz). The project was commissioned by the Motor Accident Commission road safety campaign in Australia and involved 17 people. Streets: World Roundup (Oct 29 – Nov 4)

This week’s Streets: World Roundup feature is headlined by a new mural (photo by Lois Stavsky) in New York City by Ron English, who worked overtime to finish it before Hurricane Sandy hit. The piece (on Mulberry Street between Canal and Hester in New York’s Little Italy) depicting his Temper Tot character is a English’s first mural in Manhattan in about 25 years as part of The New York Comedy Festival and Vandalog’s series of indoor and outdoor installations collectively titled The Art of Comedy.
