Openings: “The Boneyard Project : Return Trip” @ Pima Art & Space Museum

Last weekend, the outdoor fields and indoor hanger Pima Art and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona were the venues for the hand-painted vintage planes of The Boneyard Project: Return Trip. While the the DC Super 3 planes painted by How & Nosm, Nunca, and Retna, a C97 cockpit by Saner, a C45 plane by Faile, and a Lockheed VC 140 Jetstar by Andrew Schoultz were already stunning enough as centerpieces of the exhibition, when you include the nose cones, cockpits, and other plane segments painted [...]

Showing: Dan Colen – “Trash” @ Gagosian Gallery (Rome)

In anticipation of the ambitious Three Amigos three-part extravaganza – a series of three separate yet unified solo shows with Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, and Dash Snow at three different yet equally symbolic venues in Rome – Gagosian Gallery attempted to kick things off in advance with a solo from the one artist they represent; Dan Colen. Entitled Trash, the body of work is a massive departure from the body of work showing concurrently at Rome’s Palazzo Rospigliosi and stays true to its signifier in [...]

Nate Lowman / Dash Snow / Dan Colen – “Three Amigos” @ Galleria Massimo De Carlo (Rome)

Affectionately referred to a “Warhol’s Children” in an in-depth New York Magazine article from 2007, the group of New York outcasts from the so-called “Bowery School” – including Dan Colen and Dash Snow (and Ryan McGinely, though not included in this event) – represented a new generation of provocative, scandalous, unique, and talented artists. Add Nate Lowman, another New York artist who represents the same ideals of the group of risk takers, into the equation with Colen and Dash and you have Three Amigos. Organized by [...]

Basel Week Miami ’10 – KAWS Book Signing @ The Standard Hotel

As we reported earlier in the week, The Standard Miami served as ground zero today for a more intimate, less rushed signing of KAWS’ new book with Rizzoli, where guests were invited to sit down with the artist and share some time. Partnering with OHWOW, the local gallery who seemingly has their hands in everything special going on during Art Basel Week, the swanky pop-up shop was ripe with exclusively published art books, a selection of artwork and custom products only offered for the weekend [...]
