Previews: “The Moleskine Project VII” @ Spoke Art (NYC)

On August 4th, Spoke Art’s location in NYC will be hosting The Moleskine Project VII, the seventh iteration of the group show curated by artist Rodrigo Luff and gallery owner Ken Harman. The concept behind the show once again is to create a piece of art on the pages of the ubiquitous moleskin notebook used by many artists for sketches, to record ideas, and for studies. Openings: Dan Quintana – “Tidepools” @ Spoke Art (New York)

Recently in New York, Spoke Art opened a solo show from Dan Quintana entitled Tidepools. The exhibition sees the Los Angeles-based artist continue his dark and erie portraiture of beautiful women, oftentimes with surreal elements. Previews: “Small Works 2016” @ beinArt Gallery

On September 17th, beinArt Gallery in Brunswick, Australia will be opening their Small Works 2016 group show. As the title of the exhibition suggest, the pieces in the show are meant to be affordable and all measure under 10″ x 10″. Last week, Unit London hosted the opening of a group show curated by the founder of Paintguide, Henrik Uldalen. Openings: Dan Quintana – “Diffused” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

Over the weekend, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco hosted the opening of Dan Quintana’s lastest solo show. Entitled Diffused, the exhibition featured a dozen new oil paintings and several charcoal drawings on paper from the Los-Angeles based artist centered mainly around his ghostly portraiture, beautiful female characters surrounded by an aura of abstract elements. Upcoming: Dan Quintana – “Diffused” @ Hashimoto Contemporary

On this Saturday, August 29th, Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco will welcome in painter Dan Quintana for a new solo show. Diffused will feature almost a dozen new oil paintings and several charcoal drawings on paper, ghostly and surreal portraiture that show off the Los Angeles-based artist’s eye for detail as well his exploration of some more abstract elements. Upcoming: Dan Quintana – “Spectres in Grey” @ Galerie Wolfsen

On April 11th, Galerie Wolfsen in Aalborg will be opening a solo show from Dan Quintana entitled Spectres in Grey. Judging from the few preview images show here, fans in Denmark will be in for a treat as the Los Angeles-based artist has created some beautifully rendered portraits steeped in the surreal. Upcoming: Dan Quintana & Karen Hsiao – “Perverse Foil” @ Marcas Gallery

On August 2nd, the Marcas Gallery in Orange County will be opening Perverse Foil, a collaborative exhibition between painter Dan Quintana and photographer Karen Hsiao. Admirers of each other’s work since 2009, the two artist decided to collaborate on a show when they noticed similarities between Quintana’s figures and Hsiao’s models.
