Releases: David Choe – “Dirty Hands” DVD & Live Streaming

Provocative street artist David Choe (featured) is finally releasing the long awaited DVD for his documentary Dirty Hands through Upper Playground. The movie, put together by Harry Kim, originally premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival to multiple sold-out screenings and went on to win the Best Documentary award at the San Diego Asian Film Festival. Charity / Releases: David Choe – “Red Moon” Edition

Despite being imprisoned last time he was in Japan and forbidden to return, David Choe (featured) still has love for the Land of the Rising Sun. This new print (limited to 88) entitled “Red Moon” will be released today at 6 pm PST at Trapeze Editions with 100% of the proceeds going to the relief efforts in Japan. Openings: “Zen Garage” @ JANM

Last week, the Japanese American Nation Museum hosted “Zen Garage”, a small exhibition featuring some custom vehicles from Shinya Kimura, Giant Robot’s Eric Nakamura (interviewed), and David Choe (featured).  The highlight for us was Choe’s custom monster Scion xB showcasing some of his signature artwork on its body and his love for the drums in the back. Although David Choe’s (featured) is currently in Miami, he’s found time to release the remaining “Tokyo Girl” prints from his recent Secret Studio show in Japan. The 17 x 17 inch print, inspired by “half-Japanese women and Shibuya,” is in a edition of 76 (priced at $250) and will be available today at noon pacific time at Trapeze Editions.
